Alaska Hummingbird Festival Juried Art Exhibit

Join the US Forest Service and the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center for the annual Hummingbird Festival Juried Art Show!
Vision: To educate and promote awareness of the Spring Migratory Birds of Southeast Alaska through creative arts!

Open 7 days a week May 1st - September 1st
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Wednesday and Saturday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
$5 per person
or annual $15 passes available

The Commons Gallery

A collection of dynamic oil paintings featuring fantastic animals from ancient literature!

Animals of all kinds have fascinated Danelle since childhood, and it was natural for her to meld her interest with a burgeoning passion for making art. Each piece employs Danelle's powerful use of color. The vibrant compositions are intended to bring the viewer a deeper understanding or a fresh perspective on each animal she brushes onto the canvas.

Arts Report on KRBD

Each week at approximately 8:20 am KRBD hosts the Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council for their weekly report on arts and humanities in Ketchikan and the surrounding area. Get a synopsis of the local music scene, performances, Gallery exhibits, pop-ups, and Calls to artists. The Arts Report often features special guests from the Ketchikan Theatre Ballet, Artists, and Curators. Tune in weekly to KRBD 105.3 FM Ketchikan, Metlakatla and Saxman, 107.1 FM North Ketchikan, Ward Cove, and Ketchikan, 101.7: Craig, 90.7: North Point Higgins, 90.1: Mountain Point, Hydaburg, Klawock, and Thorne Bay.

Sealaska Heritage Institute is accepting proposals from presenters for its fifth Culturally Responsive Education Conference, which is part of a larger effort to promote culturally responsive pedagogy in schools.
