Ketchikan Chamber Orchestra

Formerly The Ketchikan Orchestra Project, the Ketchikan Chamber Orchestra had its beginnings in 2018 under the helm and inspiration of director, educator and horn player Mary Kurth. She pulled the ensemble together as an outlet for local musicians to play orchestral music. The Ketchikan Chamber Orchestra is not the first iteration of a string ensemble Ketchikan has seen. The Shoe String Orchestra made its debut in Ketchikan decades ago, pulling musicians from all over Southeast to play.

The Ketchikan Chamber Orchestra was able to get three performances under its belt before it paused activities during the pandemic. The Ketchikan Chamber Orchestra is now back up and running under the direction of Jeffery Karlson, and will continue to provide opportunities for Ketchikan instrumentalists to perform orchestral music.

The Ketchikan Chamber Orchestra is fiscally sponsored by First City Players.

The next Ketchikan Chamber Orchestra performance will include works by Respighi, Faure and Hindemith, PLUS special guest Kyle G. Bailey and Alvin Inocillo will perform a work of John Dowland.
