Climbing the Thumb Devil’s Thumb, a peak located in the Stikine ice cap region, is named for its thumb-like appearance that can be seen from Petersburg. First climbed in 1946 by the prolific mountaineer, Fred Becky, fewer than 60 people have reached the summit since then. In June 2016, Shawn McAllister and 2 partners, both of whom are photographers, made an attempt on the Devil’s Thumb. Come hear about the adventures and see some incredible photography of this remote, iconic peak.
