Friday, January 11: Sailing the Mighty Pacific
Join Romanda Simpson, a Clipper Round the World Yacht Race '13/14 alumni, for stories of adventure on the high seas. Having never sailed before, Romanda jumped at the chance to learn the skill and join a race around the world via sailboat. She proceeded to sail over 12,000 miles in Leg 5 and 6 of the race, on a route that saw the crew navigate the waters from sunny Brisbane to sweltering Singapore, pushing on up to the frigid Qingdao, China and finally across the great Pacific to San Francisco. Through stories, pictures and videos, from the race she will share what it takes to be part of the race, offer up humbling tales of mountainous seas, lightning strikes, and brushes with nature.
