Each week at approximately 8:20 am KRBD hosts the Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council for their weekly report on arts and humanities in Ketchikan and the surrounding area. Get a synopsis of the local music scene, performances, Gallery exhibits, pop-ups, and Calls to artists. The Arts Report often features special guests from the Ketchikan Theatre Ballet, Artists, and Curators. Tune in weekly to KRBD 105.3 FM Ketchikan, Metlakatla and Saxman, 107.1 FM North Ketchikan, Ward Cove, and Ketchikan, 101.7: Craig, 90.7: North Point Higgins, 90.1: Mountain Point, Hydaburg, Klawock, and Thorne Bay.

Basics of Wheel Throwing

Basics of Wheel Throwing will begin with an introduction to the studio and a potters wheel demonstration. You will learn the basic steps of throwing a cylinder on the wheel before trying it out yourself using up to four one-pound balls of clay.

You can keep your new works of art, we will dry, trim, bisque fire, glaze and glaze fire them for you. When your masterpieces are finished, we will notify you when they are ready for pick-up (allow three to six weeks).

Please arrive 5-10 minutes early. The first 10 minutes of class will be covering studio etiquette and the last 15 minutes of class will be set aside for clean up.

Basics of Wheel Throwing is required to access other studio classes.

Due to limited space, cancellations more than 2 weeks in advance are entitled to a full refund. Less than 14 days notice prior to a class are eligible for 50% of the registration fee. Less than 24hrs notice is non-refundable.

*Students must be 18 and older to enroll.

Galvin Cello Quartet - presented by the Sitka Music Festival

With their untamable desire to create, change, and ultimately bring joy through music, the Galvin Cello Quartet is incredibly excited to explore and expand the possibilities of the cello quartet. Using the limitless range of a cello ensemble, the group's mission is to bring together new works from diverse cultural backgrounds while seeking to establish the cello quartet as a core part of the classical music world. The Galvin Cello Quartet embodies virtuosity, with each member bringing their own artistic nuance and acclaimed background to the ensemble. Recent and upcoming highlights include performances and residencies at Bravo! Vail, Ravinia, Ascent International Cello Festival, Newport Classical, Merkin Hall, and the Walton Arts Center.
