Tia Hardanger will be teaching a beginning Norwegian Hardanger embroidery class in February (Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26) from 2:00 to 3:30 at the First Lutheran Church 1200 Tongass Ave. in the downstairs fellowship hall. Cost is $30. and class size is limited to 8 people. Supplies are provided to complete a Hardanger project like the one in photo. Email Tia to register !

Steve Brown has shared his knowledge and skills with students at the Totem Heritage Center since 1979, teaching classes in carving, engraving, design, and history, as well as the Island Carvers Canoe workshop. Students will study formline design created specifically for Chilkat weaving. This class can be taken virtually or in person, and count toward a Certificate of Merit.

The Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council are so excited to be partnering with Ketchikan After School Program (KAP) and ARTery Instructor Abel Piercy to bring you the Youth Wearable Art Class!!!!
When:
Tuesdays and Thursdays 3:30 - 5:30 pm
February 7th - March 16th
That is 12, 2 hour classes, with art teacher Abel Piercy!!!
Where:
KAP room, upstairs at the PLAZA Mall
Why:
To give youth artists an opportunity and a space to create amazing art to be worn on the body!!!!

Students can choose to participate in the 2nd ANnual Youth Wearable Art Show with their finished pieces March 25th!!!

Open Craft Night is back at the Totem Heritage Center!
Join them on Tuesdays from 6-9:00pm and bring your weaving, regalia, and design projects to work in the company of fellow Northwest Coast artists and students.

Celebrate the life of Alaska civil rights leader Elizabeth Peratrovich. Elizabeth Peratrovich was a Raven of the Tlingit Lukaax.ádi clan, and a major force behind the passage of Alaska’s Anti-Discrimination Bill in 1945.

This open-level Ballet class is geared toward adults with no previous dance experience.

Move your body, burn calories and learn the basics of Classical Ballet technique! There is no dance or ballet experience necessary for this class. This class is designed for adults who are new to dance and have always wanted to experience the beauty of ballet! Punch cards are also available for this class.

Join the Rainy Day Quilt Guild for their annual "Quilting in the Rain" Quilt Show. Ketchikan's prolific quilters showcase their work in a extraordinary display of talent a the Ted Ferry Civic Center. Vote for your favorite quilt, tie a string on the "Community Service" Quilt, and see this year's Quilts of Valor. Plus, don't forget to buy your raffle ticket for the quilt give away!

The Quilt Show is free and all residents of the community are encouraged to enter their handmade quilts!

Instructor: JANICE JACKSON $80 February 18-19, 2023 (materials TBD) Sat. & Sun. 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

In this two-day workshop Tlingit artist, Janice Jackson will advise students new to beading on how to plan and begin an appliqued design. More experienced beading students can receive answers to questions and assistance solving any conundrums with their beading projects.
