Holly Churchill will instruct beginning students in learning and practicing foundational Tlingit and Tsimshian cedar bark weaving methods. Students will learn basic twining and other techniques foundational to cedar bark weaving. This class counts toward a Certificate of Merit in Weaving and is a prerequisite for all upper-level weaving classes.

Students will use a number of different materials such as paint, drawing supplies, cardboard, adhesives, and wire to create positive message-themed art designed to make people smile!

1) Swing 101 - New Beginner Swing Basics | November 7 only
We offer Swing 101 the first week of every 4-week Swing 2 session, to get everyone started with the basic steps and turns of East Coast Swing. If you are a brand new beginner—this is your class! Or take this foundation session many times to review your basics.
The best dancers never tire of practicing basics.
Swing 2 | November 14, 21, and 28
You need at least one Swing 101 class to take Swing 2

Swing 3 | November 7, 14, 21, 28
Has completely different moves from Swing 2
You need at least one Swing 101 class to take Swing 3

Learn how to make abstract art by understanding the use of color, composition, negative space, and contrast. They will use a variety of mediums in each piece. Students will be challenged to be bold and to push the boundaries of what art is by encouraging them to have no expectations of the outcome. They will be guided them to trust their artistic intuitions and follow their hearts while creating their abstract masterpieces!

Open Craft Night is back at the Totem Heritage Center!
Join them on Tuesdays from 6-9:00pm and bring your weaving, regalia, and design projects to work in the company of fellow Northwest Coast artists and students.

Each week at approximately 8:20 am KRBD hosts the Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council for their weekly report on arts and humanities in Ketchikan and the surrounding area. Get a synopsis of the local music scene, performances, Gallery exhibits, pop-ups, and Calls to artists. The Arts Report often features special guests from the Ketchikan Theatre Ballet, Artists, and Curators. This open-level Ballet class is geared toward adults with no previous dance experience.

Move your body, burn calories and learn the basics of Classical Ballet technique! There is no dance or ballet experience necessary for this class. This class is designed for adults who are new to dance and have always wanted to experience the beauty of ballet! Punch cards are also available for this class.

Bring your crochet, beading, or other craft project to the Ketchikan Public Library and chat with fellow crafters/artist!
