Ketchikan area Artists and Creatives have been inspiring the communities of this area since the beginning. Culturally Responsive Understanding by Design: Alaska Native History - Registration Form
Spring 2026 | 37.5 hours over 8 weeks | 1 UAS credit | Partially synchronous | $1,300 stipend
This course offers tools and training to develop and evaluate culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy, including a finished, high-quality unit ready to pilot. Understanding by Design teaching will coincide with content on Alaska Native History to incorporate into final unit.

If seeking the 1 credit offer, YOU MUST PAY APPLICATION FEE to UAS, which is typically around $90.
$1,300 stipend for all who fully complete and pass the class, regardless of credit.
The Final Project is a short ready-to-use UbD unit.
Course starts February 16th and ends after 8 weeks on April 13th. Please make sure you are able to fully participate in the course and deliver the required final project before filling out the application.
In order to receive the stipend at the end of the course participants should meet all the course deliverables, in addition to participation in post course survey and focus group conducted by SHI grant evaluator.
