2023 Voices of the Wilderness Artist Residency

Wednesday, March 1, 2023Thursday, March 2, 2023

They are excited to announce that the 2023 Voices of the Wilderness artist residency application period is now open. This year, there are eleven different opportunities being hosted through the US Forest Service, National Park Service, and US Fish & Wildlife Service across Alaska.

This unique artist-in-residence program pairs wilderness specialists with a volunteer artist, to be actively engaged in stewardship projects such as research, monitoring, and education, all while residing in a backcountry setting. In exchange for this opportunity, artists donate a work of art and provide a community public extension, such as a slideshow lecture or workshop.

While the deadline to apply is March 1, 2023, they encourage all artists to submit their application early for careful consideration. It’s free to apply, and the program is open to artists of all mediums. Attached is the information and application; more about the program can be found at http://www.fs.usda.gov/goto/votw
