January 8-29, 2016: Sounds Abound

Sounds Abound
January 8-29, 2016
A solo exhibit of auditory experiences and “soundscapes” by Ruth Eddy.
Ruth Eddy has always loved to collage, and sees her role as an artist to arrange what already exists. As a radio journalist she has developed a passion for sound, and more recently collaging sound. Ruth likes to use sound to explore truth in memories and takes digital recordings, like some people take pictures, hoping to capture a memory. A microphone is an objective machine, recording physical information; however the human holding that microphone is not. Ruth is interested in this relationship and its influence in memory.
Much like we embed memories into objects, Ruth embeds sound into artifacts for people to interact with and take home. Ruth Eddy will be creating a rich soundscape using personal recordings in this multimedia exhibit rooted in sound with supporting video, text and imagery.
