CEDAR BARK WEAVING - 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Holly Churchill *
Learn traditional Northwest Coast Haida-style cedar bark weaving with master weaver Holly Churchill. Students will practice the fundamentals of weaving and refine their skills as they create their own unique woven masterpieces. Students experience techniques hands-on and gain knowledge of traditional art and culture of our area’s first peoples.

NORTHWEST COAST DESIGN - 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Brita Alander *
Haida artist Brita Alander will teach Northwest Coast design with an array of activities and a final painted panel project. Students learn basic shapes and principles, and practice drawing and transferring, and gain context with an introduction to Northwest Coast art history and tradition. Alander has been creating Northwest Coast art for over twenty years, teaching youth as a guest instructor at Kayhi and Schoenbar.
