 ON\nThis class introduces students to the fundamentals of Haida formline d
 esign with a focus on structure\, rhythm\, and visual balance. Participant
 s will study and practice the primary design elements — ovoids\, U-forms\,
  and S-forms — and how these shapes interact to create cohesive compositio
 ns.\n\nThe course emphasizes basic crest designs traditionally seen on ben
 twood boxes\, paddles\, and regalia\, explored through drawing exercises a
 nd design studies. Students will learn how formline proportions and flow c
 ontribute to the overall aesthetic of Haida art.\n\nBy the end of the clas
 s\, participants will have developed a series of formline sketches that de
 monstrate their understanding of composition\, symmetry\, and movement wit
 hin the Haida visual system.
