Joy Ride will be a collaborative exhibit from a group of young full-time Ketchikan Northwest Coast Native artists whose work has been influenced by Tlingit master carver Nathan Jackson, curated by Chris Hanson. Joy Ride will take visitors on a journey through innovative art, uniting two generations of groundbreaking Northwest Coast artists responding to centuries-old tradition and the contemporary world. Works by Stephen Jackson, Donald Varnell, Fred Trout and others will be featured in the exhibit. Their work incorporates a wide range of media including wood, paper, canvas, sound, resin, textiles, and found objects while referencing traditional Northwest Coast iconography.
