    The Ketchikan Area Arts and Humanities Council serves the artistic needs of the greater Ketchikan community with a variety of programs and events. We offer activities for every age group, interest, and level of experience.

    Programs and Events are sponsored by the Arts Council, with the generous support of the National Endowment for the Arts, the Alaska State Council on the Arts, the Rasmuson Foundation, and membership support.

  • Mainstay Gallery  ( 4 items )

    The Mainstay Gallery is a community art gallery committed to community artist development. The Gallery hosts 11 exhibits a year from September through August, and displays a wide variety of mediums from local and national artists, as well as traveling exhibits.

    The Mainstay Gallery is a community art gallery committed to community artist development through

    a) hosting exhibits by emerging local artists
    b) hosting exhibits of work outside the commercial mainstream by established local artists
    c) hosting exhibits of visiting artists when the exhibit and/or workshops by the artist can make a valuable contribution to the local art culture
    d) providing open and invitational exhibits that inspire local amateur and professional artists to step forward and participate in a public dialogue through their art
    e)  providing open and invitational exhibits that inspire local and amateur artists to expand the range of their media

    Porfolio/Proposal Consultations:
    Part of the mission of the Mainstay Gallery is to assist artists in portfolio preparation and professional development. To fulfill this mission, the Gallery Committee offers artists and curators individual consultations with a member of the Committee, and maintains a library of sample proposals.  Proposals are due toward the end of February each year.  For help with a proposal, call the Arts Council office at (907)225-2211, and/or check back here for the call for artists flyer.

     

  • Torch Nights Performing Arts Series  ( 6 items )

    The Torch Nights Performing Arts Series features an international roster of performing artists, which entertain and enlighten with world-class classical, folk, jazz, dance, dramatic and world beat performers. The series of seven events includes The Gigglefeet Dance Festival, co-sponsored with Ketchikan Theatre Ballet and First City Players, and the Wearable Art Show, as well as performances by touring artists.
